The Solaris packages on the Ethereal web site were built using the
version of GTK+ that ships with the Solaris Companion Software CDs:

    http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/freeware/

You could try installing Sun's GLib and GTK+ packages, creating symbolic
links (as suggested in a previous mail), or building a Solaris package
from scratch.

BTW, Ethereal development stopped in May and the project continued under
the name "Wireshark." You can get Wireshark packages for Solaris from
Blastwave (http://www.blastwave.org). Installation is as easy as typing
"pkg-get install wireshark".
