Dear Andreas Fink,Guy Harris and Joerg Mayer,

    Thank you for your attention and help.Please forgive me for my poor _expression_. Yes,I just want to sniff the management and control frames.

     I have activated interface and set it to monitor but still have not sniffed any management and control frames at all.(I used the command set it to monitor:"iwconfig eth1 mode monitor").Is there anything wrong?

Dear Sirs,

        I am a student .I want to do some research about wireless and mobile IP recently. The ieee 802.11 signalling packet have to be captureed in my experiment.But I don't how to do this.

 

       My experiment environment  is :

       Operating system :Fedora 4 and the kernel is 2.6.15

       Wireless card:Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Connection mini PCI adapter(IPW2100)

       Wireless card driver:ipw2100

       Ethereal Version:0.10.11 ,Compiled with GTK+2.6.7,with GLib 2.6.4,with libpcap 0.8.3, with libz 1.2.2.2 ,with libpcre 5.0, with Net-SNMP 5.2.1 ,without ADNS.

      

       Can anyone help me and  tell some details how to do it ?

PS.I have read the FAQ on the website of Ethereal and set the card's mode to monitor but I still couldn't capture any 802.11 raw packets.
