Is there any documentation on how ethereal decods the MS SQL Server
protocol?
1. Is the TDS (protocol used by MS SQL Server) decode fully supported?
No. To quote an item in the WishList:
http://wiki.ethereal.com/WishList
"Completely decode MS SQL / Sybase protocols (TDS). (A dissector for TDS
exists, but there's still stuff it doesn't dissect. For example,
reversing TDS passwords -- see
http://www.securiteam.com/tools/6Q00I0UEUM.html)"
2. Are there any issues with the TDS dissector?
Yes. See previous answer.
A more general question
I am new to ethereal, is there any way to access this type of
information from FAQ's, documentation, etc...? Not just for the TDS
protocol, but for other protocols that ethereal supports?
Is there a general way? No. *Some* protocols have entries in the
Ethereal Wiki, and *some* of those entries indicate how fully supported
the protocol is - and, if a protocol has new features added to it, those
entries could become out-of-date.
