Ethereal-users: December 2005

Hi

I am having problems installing ethereal for a Solaris 5.8 system having libgtk+ 1.2.10 in /usr/local/lib. pkgadd fails and complains about not being able to find gtk+ in /opt/sfw/bin. I have set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to point to the GTK install dir. As a crude hack attempt, I even created /opt/sfw/bin and copied libgtk* to it. No avail.

After searching for earlier posts on this list, it seems like this is a known issue and the only way out is to either "install" GTK in /opt/sfw/bin or to compile ethereal from source (and make sure it finds the right GTK library using LFLAGS etc). Is this a correct assessment?

Thanks in advance for your help! Would be glad to hear of any workaround anyone successfully tried.
