I think that Ethereal is the wrong tool for this job. In your case using a manageable switch and checking the interface-counter, CPU usage and overall utilization is much more helpful then analyzing the network traffic. You're problem might be cause by any number of things, from a defective NIC to a defective power-supply in the switch or even some cabling problems. Jens
