Jose, Instead of using ethereal, you can use tethereal, which is a command line version. tethereal can produce statistics for you and then write the results to a file. I have attached a couple of bash shell scripts that I use to "crunch" the files and then output the results to a file. You can use these scripts as examples of how to get the numbers you need into a file, as well as the man page for tethereal. There is a pretty good book on ethereal (and tethereal) called Ethereal Packet Sniffing by Syngress Publishing that also helps explain a lot of this. I hope things at ISU are well!
