There's tethereal that comes in the ethereal distribution which is a command line version of ethereal. But it is not interactive. if you want to run an etheral gui you could do something like: client$ ssh user@server tethereal -w - | ethereal -r - that way ethereal running on client will display what's captured by tethereal on server.
