How does the current n days option determine when to switch to the next file?

Ability to specify the time of day to move on to the next file in "Capture Options", Capture File(s)", "Use multiple files", "Next file every 1 day(s)".
So when the capture files are to be from 12:00 AM to 12:00 AM, the capture can be started at anytime and not have to wait till 12:00 AM to start the capturing.
Anyone besides me think this would be useful?

Although I can think this can be useful in certain situations, there is a serious drawback:

To obtain the current time, a system call has to be done which might take a "while" until return. This way it makes packet drops in the capture loop much more likely (as it slows down this loop).
