[Ethereal-users] Can Ethereal capture data passing through a modem ?

hi..

Can Ethereal capture data passing through a modem ? I
use a dial-up connection to connect to the Internet.
My modem is connected to COM1 port.

I need to see the data sent from my machine through
the modem by any malware program.

Can Ethereal be of use for my case ?
