Where did the capture files come from?

Were they copied between a UN*X machine and a Windows machine?

If so, were they copied in a way (such as FTPing) that might cause text
files to be translated between UN*X and Windows format?  If a non-text
file - such as a libpcap file (Ethereal uses libpcap format) - is copied
in that fashion, it can be corrupted.
