Ethereal-users: June 2004

Yes I'm sorry, Extreme and 11g wireless. I haven't been able to get it to run in promiscuous mode, so I guess I'll have to wait until someone comes up with some enabled OS X drivers. Thank you! david

Hello. Having just discovered the wonderful world of fink, I finally
got ethereal to compile and install on my Mac 10.3 OS. However, I have
an airport express card, is it true that this card can't sniff?

"Airport Express" is the fits-in-a-power-supply-pod 802.11g base station
and AirTunes audio station; it's not a card.

Did you mean "Airport Extreme"? If so, then it *might* run in promiscuous
mode, but the OS X drivers don't support putting it in monitor mode (the
usual mode for 802.11 packet capture if you're trying to listen to other
machines), so there are limits on the amount of sniffing you'll be able to
do.
