What WinPcap version are you using?

 

Due to a missing exported function in packet.dll under 9x, WinPcap 3.1beta2 (release at the beginning of this week) fails to work on Windows 9x (the effect is that wpcap.dll fails to load into memory).

 

We have already fixed the problem in our source tree, and we will release a new beta(3) in a week or so, addressing this bug.

 

At the moment you should use WinPcap 3.0 on Windows 9x.

I have installed ethereal V0.10.3. The About Ethereal reveals the following.

However, I have installed winpcap and the following files are located in c:\windows\system

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\packet.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\npf.vxd
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\wpcap.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\pthreadVC.dll

I am running window98 SE operating system. Capture fails to start and I get the following message.



Could some one tell me how to make it work. I am lost.
