Hi,

I believe you are using the stock kernel from RedHat 7.3?

Dun think that driver can do the rfmon trick. You will have to get new
drivers for the card to do this by recompiling with the PCMCIA package
or simply recompiling the kernel.

I recommend you use the drivers with the signal strength patch from the
AirTraf project. It works well for me and have the additional feature of
signal strength.

Was wondering if anyone intends to incorporate the signal strength field
into a TCPDump file. Then we can capture and view the signal strength
reading also.

Was thinking of either introducing a new 80211 packet type or writing it
into one of the spare fields at the back of every beacon field?...any
comments?

I am using linux 7.3 with kernel 2.4.18-3 and an Cisco Aironet Air
PCM350.

I am trying to turn the unit into monitor mode as described in the FAQ,

have tried the echo command and cannot change the mode using "Mode:
rfmon"
or "Mode: y" I can however use echo to turn the radio on and off which
gives
me some hope that I am on the right track.

Any ideas, have they changed the mode commands?

When associated Ethereal works fine as far as I am aware, I used the
faslehope RPMS if that helps.

Just a warning I am new to Linux.
