Collision/error detection requires the specialist hardware usually associated with network routers/switches/repeaters. These are usually the only devices that are interested in such data as it occurs at the physical and datalink layer. If I suspect a network segment has such physical/issues normally you need to access this from the network switching component console or SNMP MIBs, or if it doesn't have this support, I temporarily install a switch that can measure such statistics.
