Try CygWin
www.cygwin.com
and
www.cygwin.com/xfree

The first will give you a useful shell
The second will give you an Xserver in a window as well as TWM

Both these will transform your Winbox into something that is actually quite
useable.


There are rumours that both KDE and GNOME has been ported to cygwin as well.
