Step 1: get a later Ethereal package; 0.8.9 is old - the current version
is 0.8.13, and there have been a number of bugs fixed since then.

I don't know whether any of those work on SuSE as well - if not, perhaps
somebody else knows where packages that do work on SuSE can be found (I
don't).
