[ethereal-users] ucd-snmp libraries

Hello Everyone,

When compiling ethereal, I am experiencing  undefined reference errors
to:

sprint_value
sprint_objid
init_mib
snmp_set_full_objid

I'm using Redhat 6.1 and have compiled ucd-snmp 4.1.2 (with
--enable-shared) and ethereal 0.8.9 from the sources as explained in the
FAQ that refers to this problem. After wrestling with it for a while, I
just went ahead and compiled ethereal with ./configure --enable-snmp=no.
Much to my surprise, ethereal still decodes SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, and SNMPv3
packets without a problem. I have two questions:

1) What advantage does --enable-snmp=yes provide?

2) Has anyone been able to get the latest versions of ucd-snmp and
ethereal to work together?
