Please disregard this problem. I was able to identify the problem. When I installed Visual Slick Edit it installed a DOS based grep.exe. This was being called instead of the grep from cygwin. The Visual Slick Edit version does not include a -v switch whereas the one from cygwin does. I do not really know why I have not ran into this before unless a change was made recently that added the code that generated my problem.
