Indeed. I have training and other things going out to the end of the year.
So, I was really thinking of next year sometime.

I will try to put something together and let everyone know. My thinking was
that it will be cheaper to have some people fly to the US than to have
everyone fly to Australia.

OK, well, I did a 45-minute presentation with a title of Networking
Debugging and Ethereal.

I presented Ethereal, talked briefly about the developers, what Ethereal
is, and showed some shots of it on the screen. Unfortunately, I used
PowerPoint and really did not have the time, so I could not show it in action.

I also showed how it can be used to troubleshoot, by using as an example a
problem I had with Samba and Windows 95 where Win95 was upper-casing the
password (plaintext) and sending it over. 

I finished off by describing the work I am doing and the problems I am
having with automatically generating the SMB protocol decode modules, and
talked about some of the blue sky things we have discussed.

Along the way, I talked about how some of my development is done in Qantas
Club lounges (airline club longes where you can have free alcohol etc) and
on flights from Sydney to Adelaide.  I made references to any funnies in
the code being the result of too much red wine, and this added a touch of
humour.

The talk seemed to be well received with lots of members of the audience
wanting to talk to me about new protocols, new facilities, and pointers to
people who are working on protocol descriptions, etc.  Someone asked about
the ICA (Winframe?) protocol etc.

I am thinking of renaming the talk to: Software Development in Qantas Club
Lounges, does it improve with age? :-) :-)
