NetMon lets you, on a "Save As", write out only *some* of the packets - you can either have it write out only those packets selected by the display filter, or write out a range of packets (packets M through N). Making the target of the "Save As" be the current file would seem to imply that you would then have only the packets you saved, which isn't necessarily what the person who did a partial "Save As" wanted. We might also want to offer the ability to do those sorts of partial saves; if so, we might not want "Save As" to make the saved-to file the current file. (I.e., they may have had a good reason to violate the common UI standard that says "Save As" should make the saved-to file the current file.)
