Overview of changes in Ethereal 0.8.2
=====================================

"Editcap" has been in Ethereal for a while, but is now installed
by default. It is a command-line program which allows you to edit
prune capture files and save them in other formats.

"Tethereal" is a new addition. It is a tty-mode sniffer based on the
Ethereal packet-sniffing engine. It acts like tcpdump or snoop.
(No, we couldn't think of a better name)

Updated protocols in Ethereal (and Tethereal, since they use the
same engine), are: CDP, L2TP, RTSP, LLC, CLNP, NFS (we now have full
NFSv3 support), IPv4 (DiffServ field), and BGP.

Cisco ISL is the new protocol dissector in this release.

A new hex dump view is available in the TCP Stream window, augmenting
the ASCII and EBCDIC choices.

GUI enhancements were made (a right-click popup menu was added),
bugs were fixed, and the Win32 makefiles were brought up to date.

{Free,Open,Net}BSD should now be able to build with zlib support in
wiretap.

Also incorporated into Ethereal are workarounds for bugs in
GTK+-1.2.[3-6], and libpcap in Linux.

Enjoy!
